At Dermphi Centre™
, we use IntelliStudio®, one of the most advanced systems in the world for mole mapping and skin monitoring. This technology helps us keep a close eye on your skin so that even the smallest changes don’t go unnoticed.
Mole mapping (also called total body photography or digital dermoscopy monitoring) is a specialized screening tool in dermatology that creates a complete visual record of a person’s skin surface. It’s particularly useful for people at higher risk of skin cancer (especially melanoma). Instead of just checking moles during one appointment, mole mapping builds a baseline “map” of the entire body and allows dermatologists to track changes over time.
Who Should Consider Mole Mapping?
It’s recommended for people who:
· Have a family or personal history of melanoma or skin cancer.
· Have many moles (especially >50).
· Have atypical or irregular moles.
· Have fair skin, light eyes, or burn easily.
· Have had significant sun exposure or use tanning beds.
IntelliStudio® is a cutting-edge, AI-enabled digital imaging system used in dermatology for total body mole mapping and skin monitoring. It goes beyond traditional mole checks by combining high-resolution photography, dermoscopic imaging, and intelligent software to provide a comprehensive map of a patient’s skin. It’s especially valuable for early detection of melanoma and other skin cancers, and it’s considered one of the most advanced tools available for mole mapping worldwide.
Key Advantages of IntelliStudio® Mole Mapping
· AI-Assisted Accuracy → Detects even subtle changes that human eyes may miss.
· Standardized Imaging → Ensures consistent, repeatable photos across sessions.
· Comprehensive Tracking → Covers the entire skin surface, not just selected areas.
· Reduced Unnecessary Procedures → Helps avoid removing harmless moles while ensuring dangerous ones aren’t overlooked.
· Early Detection → Significantly improves chances of catching melanoma in its earliest, most treatable stage.
· Patient Engagement → Patients can see side-by-side comparisons of their moles, which builds awareness and trust.
1. Full-Body Imaging
· The system uses specialized cameras and lighting setups to capture standardized, high-definition images of the patient’s entire skin surface.
· The software ensures that the body is imaged in consistent poses for reliable comparison over time.
2. Smart Lesion Detection
· IntelliStudio® uses AI-powered algorithms to automatically detect moles and lesions in the images.
· Each mole is given a unique digital identifier so it can be tracked consistently across visits.
3. Dermoscopy Integration
· Suspicious or unusual moles can be captured with a dermatoscope and linked to the body map.
· This provides close-up, magnified images that reveal structures invisible to the naked eye.
4. Digital Baseline Creation
· All images are stored in a secure database, creating a baseline skin map for the patient.
· This map can be accessed and compared in follow-up visits.
5. Change Detection Over Time
· On subsequent visits, IntelliStudio® automatically compares new images with the baseline.
· It flags new lesions and highlights changes in size, shape, or color of existing moles.
· Dermatologists can then decide if a biopsy or removal is necessary.
IntelliStudio® is available to all Canadian residents starting at $650 per session.
· Low-risk individuals: 1 session per year recommended.
· High-risk individuals: 2 sessions per year recommended.

IntelliStudio® is a state-of-the-art digital dermoscopy and mole mapping system that captures full-body photographs and close-up dermoscopic images of the skin. It creates a digital skin map that can be compared over time to detect even the smallest changes in moles or lesions. It uses intelligent software to make follow-ups accurate, consistent, and efficient.
A regular skin check relies mainly on visual examination. IntelliStudio®, on the other hand, creates a digital skin map and uses dermoscopic imaging to capture microscopic details beneath the skin’s surface. This means more accuracy and long-term tracking of even the smallest changes.
Not at all! Mole mapping with IntelliStudio® is completely non-invasive, pain-free, and safe. It uses standard photography and dermoscopy — no radiation or harmful exposure.
Most people benefit from annual mole mapping, but if you are at higher risk (due to family history or many atypical moles), your dermatologist may recommend more frequent check-ups.
